On October 31, China's only national cross-media technology award for the journalism industry—the "Wang Xuan News Science and Technology Award" (shortened to "Wang Xuan Award")—was presented in Chengdu. The integrated reporting command platform "People e-Home," jointly developed by People's Daily and DingTalk, won third prize in the project category.
About the Wang Xuan Award
Approved by the National Office for Scientific and Technological Awards, the Wang Xuan Award was established in September 2003 by the China Association of News Technology Workers. It is reviewed every two years with the aim of encouraging media technology professionals to develop new technologies and innovative applications, thus driving transformation in the media industry. In 2025, a total of 605 projects were submitted nationwide, with 182 receiving awards.
"People e-Home": An Integrated Reporting Command Platform
Jointly developed by People's Daily and DingTalk, "People e-Home" serves as the core integrated reporting command platform for the newspaper. It integrates systems including print media editing, new media editing, intelligent editing assistants, smart office tools, an omnimedia database, and an AI-powered newsroom, covering the entire editorial workflow and supporting seamless adaptation across all devices, providing efficient and convenient one-stop services.
Currently, "People e-Home" has been adopted by nearly all staff at People's Daily, with close to a thousand journalists and editors collaborating daily through the platform, playing a key role in major coverage events such as the National Two Sessions.
Driving Innovation in Editorial Workflows
Leveraging features like instant note-taking and collaboration tools, the platform enables rapid recording and text conversion of interview materials, allowing backend teams to receive, edit, and publish content simultaneously—significantly improving collaboration efficiency and advancing news production toward a more socialized model.
"People e-Home" also offers mobile applications for news tips, pre-reporting meetings, content submissions, public article repositories, print media archives, and new media editing, enabling reporters and editors to complete the entire process—from planning and interviews to editing and review—directly from their smartphones.
AI-Powered Smart Editing
Built on large language model technology, "People e-Home" features an AI editorial assistant that allows users to quickly search historical articles, review past editions, retrieve video materials via natural language conversations, and access intelligent functions such as trending topic tracking, lead aggregation, and story suggestion tools, helping complete reporting tasks efficiently and effectively.
People's Daily continues to collaborate with partners like DingTalk to explore innovative applications of AI and cloud computing across omnimedia scenarios, comprehensively advancing the digital and intelligent transformation of news production processes.
Building the Newspaper’s “Digital Brain”
"People e-Home" is not just an editorial hub but also serves as a unified communication, office, and management platform for the entire newspaper. Employees use a single account to enable real-time cross-departmental collaboration, supported by knowledge bases, AI-powered Q&A, online document co-editing, and smart meeting minutes, greatly enhancing office efficiency.
The platform connects dozens of core business systems—including editorial, administrative, and financial operations—through standardized interfaces, enabling a "zero-switch" experience across workflows and improving managerial fluidity and collaborative effectiveness.
To support global collaboration, the platform integrates a unified global meeting system, allowing one-click initiation of cross-regional video conferences. This enables secure and efficient face-to-face-level remote communication between headquarters and overseas bureaus, enhancing the timeliness and reliability of news coordination and command.
Leading Media Digital and Intelligent Transformation
"People e-Home" represents a landmark achievement in the deep integration of AI, big data, and cloud computing with media operations, empowering People's Daily to achieve "second-level response" capabilities and significantly enhancing omnimedia dissemination effectiveness.
As the official newspaper of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, People's Daily is actively leveraging new technologies like AI to improve operational efficiency and content impact. As a model of media convergence and transformation, "People e-Home" offers a replicable "People's Daily solution" for the industry, paving the way for higher-level intelligent development across the media sector.
