On February 2, Alibaba's DingTalk released version 8.2.10, announcing a full upgrade of its AI-powered group chats by equipping every DingTalk group with a dedicated AI agent—AI Xiao Ding. This small assistant, available 24/7 within DingTalk groups, aims to enhance communication and work efficiency, reshaping the collaborative experience in AI-driven group chats.

AI Xiao Ding represents DingTalk’s new exploration into AI-era work methods. As a "proactive service agent" within DingTalk groups, users can simply @AI Xiao Ding in a newly created "internal group" to use natural language conversations for retrieving chat history, managing tasks, adjusting group settings, and more. For existing "internal groups," group owners and administrators can enable AI Xiao Ding as a group robot via group settings.

AI Xiao Ding will then connect with the "Discover Information" feed to deliver high-value content directly into the group daily, helping members stay updated on industry developments.

Smart Group Activity Manager

AI Xiao Ding automatically summarizes key information from group chats, generates daily or weekly digest reports, and intelligently identifies pending tasks (such as “forms to fill out” or “feedback to collect”), sending targeted reminders to responsible individuals to prevent oversight.

Natural Language Group Management

Group admins can perform management operations using natural language commands—for example, setting quick-access apps, renaming the group, or batch-updating member roles. Simply type "@AI Xiao Ding, set Zhang San, Li Si, and Wang Wu as project managers," and the change is made instantly without manual clicks.

During the gray-scale testing phase, DingTalk users have already explored various interaction scenarios with AI Xiao Ding, showcasing a new paradigm of human-AI collaboration.
